Sunshine Sipping on the Coast🍷

Reccomendations, pairing ideas, what’s trending, and more!

It’s that time of year in Beaufort. The boat slips are full, the Farmer’s Market is back, and it’s a miracle to find a parking spot on the weekends. Within the busy streets and busier waterways, we also feel the days stretching longer, the windows staying open a little longer, and the salt air hanging in the breeze. As we enjoy this precious season, everything seems to feel lighter: our moods, our meals, and the wines we pair them with.

Spring and early summetime invite their own style of sipping. We’re talking bone dry, mineral driven whites paired with oysters and a squeeze of fresh lemon, bright, fruit-foward roses paired with charcuterie picnics, and light, chillable reds shared around the grill at the family barbeque. This season, wine trends are leaning beautifully into that lifestyle: fresh, vibrant, lower-intervention wines with bright acidity, coastal influence, and easy drinkability are having a major moment.

Warm Weather Wine Trends

For years, it was understood that white wines were for warm weather and reds were colder months, but recent data is showing a change in this perspective. Chillable reds are taking off as the fastest growing segemnt on restaurant wine lists in 2026. What used to be a niche trend is now gaining popularity, especially with younger generations of wine drinkers who are seeking out reds with lower tannins and a refreshing drinkability that can be enjoyed all year long. Gamay and Zweigelt are great examples of reds that balance depth with birghter flavors. We’re looking at reds that pair with grilled fish freshly caught by our Beaufort locals, charcuterie for those beachside picnics on Carrot Island, and of course, North carolina BBQ. The Beaudega has been ahead of the trend on this one. Available in store now, take a look at some of our reds that enjoy some time in the fridge:

Domaine Brazilier “Margot”

If you’ve had the pleasure of joining us for our Wine & Cheese tastings this past season, you have gotten the opportunity to try this 100% pineau d’aunis from Coteaux du Vendomis, France. Located in the northern Loire Valley, these grapes are grown in clay and limestone soil and then aged for six months in concerete tanks. This is a fruity and expressive wine with black pepper and floral aromas and sour cherry notes on the palate. It features supple and persistent tannins with a peppery finish. 55°F - 60°F

Laurent Perrachon “Fleurie”

This 100% gamay from Burgundy, france is produced by the Perrachon family who have been workig the vinyard generationally since 1877. The vineyards are dedicated to sustainable practices and the estate has recently began eliminating all chemical treatments from the vineyeards. This wine features a vibrant red color with a rich, velvety texture and an elegant mix of fruit and floral aromas such as iris, violet, summer roses, peach, blackcurrants and red fruits. 53°F - 57°F

We’re Still Saying “Yes” to Albariño

Trending on TikTok and Instagram reels last year, Albariño is still dominating 2026 wine trends as a premium alternative to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. As we see a rise in “intentional drinking”, wine lovers are prioritizing these vibrant, food-friendly, coastal wines, especially in these warmer months. With bright, zesty citrus and a saline finish, Albariño is the perfect pair for fresh, loacl seafood. Pair it with oysters, white fish, ceviche, or grilled fish tacos.

In the Beaudega:

  • Fento Wines Bico Da Ran Albariño: Citrus fruits, fennel, white grapefruit, and green melon, with an electric jolt of mineral freshness and a crisp, salty finish.
  • Terras Gauda Abadia de San Campio Albariño: Fruit-forward and lively on the palate, containing aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and freshly-cut green apple. Well-balanced acidity and soft creamy notes.
  • Funckenhausen La Espera Albariño: Crisp and refreshing with a medium body. Features juicy flavors of citrus, nectarine, and a hint of salinity that leaves a long, tingly finish.

Pair With:

  • Steamed mussels or clams
  • Fresh goat cheese or brie
  • Shrimp tacos
